Zayn Malik, the former One Direction star, recently opened up about his online dating experience, revealing that he was allegedly kicked off Tinder for “catfishing” as himself. Catfishing, a common issue on dating apps, involves creating a fake profile using someone else’s pictures to deceive others.
In an interview with Nylon Magazine, Malik confessed that his attempts at finding love online have not been successful. He shared, “It’s not been too successful for me, I’ll be honest. Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for? I’ve been kicked off once or twice.”
The singer, who ended his relationship with model Gigi Hadid in October 2021, expressed his reluctance to continue seeking love online. He stated, “I’m really content and happy with being single for the first time in my life.”
Despite facing challenges in the online dating world, Malik is gearing up for the release of his new album, “Room Under The Stairs,” which is set to be available on all major streaming platforms from May 17th.
Malik also reflected on his past relationships, including his time with fellow X-Factor star Perrie Edwards, whom he dated during One Direction’s early days. He admitted, “I didn’t know anything about anything at that point. I thought I did because I was 21. I was legally allowed to do everything, but I didn’t know s**t.”
After his split from Edwards in 2015, Malik began dating Gigi Hadid, with whom he shares a child. Reflecting on this period of his life, he shared, “From 21 to 27, I was with Gi, and we had a kid, and I didn’t really take much time to get to know myself.”
As Malik prepares for the release of his new album and navigates the complexities of love and relationships, he remains focused on his personal growth and self-discovery. Despite the challenges he has faced in the world of online dating, Malik’s honesty and transparency about his experiences serve as a reminder that finding love and connection can be a journey filled with ups and downs.
As fans eagerly await the release of “Room Under The Stairs,” Malik’s candid revelations about his past relationships and struggles with online dating offer a glimpse into the complexities of fame and love in the modern age. With his new album on the horizon, Malik continues to evolve as an artist and individual, sharing his truth with authenticity and vulnerability.
