Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Robin Windsor has tragically passed away at the age of 44. Windsor, known for his expertise in Latin and ballroom dancing, rose to fame during his time as a professional dancer on the popular BBC show Strictly Come Dancing from 2010 to 2013.
Throughout his time on the show, Windsor was partnered with various celebrities including Anita Dobson from Eastenders, Deborah Meaden from Dragons’ Den, and actresses Lisa Riley and Patsy Kensit from Emmerdale. However, his journey on Strictly was cut short due to a slipped disk that left him paralyzed for several days. Despite this setback, Windsor returned to the show in 2014 for a historic same-sex dance performance with fellow dancer Aljaž Škorjanec.
The news of Windsor’s passing was announced by Burn The Floor (BTF), a dance company he co-founded with fellow Strictly professional Kristina Rihanoff. In their statement shared on social media, BTF described Windsor as a “journeyman” who danced with them for twenty years, leaving a lasting impact on their stage reputation.
Tributes poured in for the talented dancer, with current Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood expressing his sadness over the loss of his dear friend. Other celebrities and industry figures, including Dan Walker, Myra DuBois, and Erin Boag, also shared heartfelt messages honoring Windsor’s memory.
Lisa Riley, a former Strictly contestant and close friend of Windsor, took to Instagram to share a montage of photos from their time on the show together. She expressed her deep sorrow over the news, describing Windsor as her “bestie” and forever angel.
In addition to his time on Strictly Come Dancing, Windsor was known for his international success in Latin and ballroom competitions. He represented England at the Ballrooms World Championships and continued to showcase his talent in theatre shows across the country. In 2015, he started his own dancing lessons and most recently starred in a Moulin Rouge theatre tribute show called Come What May.
Sisco Entertainments, which represented Windsor for some of his theatre productions, including Come What May, also paid tribute to the dancer on social media. They highlighted Windsor’s exceptional talent and infectious laughter, describing him as a cherished gift to all who knew him.
Windsor was previously in a relationship with The X Factor finalist Marcus Collins until 2015. The cause of his untimely death has not been confirmed, leaving fans and loved ones mourning the loss of a beloved talent in the dance industry.
The passing of Robin Windsor has left a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy as a talented dancer and kind-hearted individual will continue to be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
