Trans actress Cassandra James is set to make a triumphant return to the beloved US soap opera, General Hospital. The groundbreaking actress made history as the first transgender actress to portray a trans character on daytime television, taking on the role of Dr. Terry Randolph in June 2018.
Dr. Randolph’s character was introduced as the ‘boy’ who shared a first kiss with long-running character Elizabeth Webber before transitioning into a woman. The character quickly became a fan favorite and was kept on as a paediatric oncologist, playing a crucial role in the storyline surrounding teen Oscar Nero’s battle with cancer. Despite administering an experimental treatment in hopes of saving the teen’s life, Dr. Randolph had to deliver the heartbreaking news that the treatment was unsuccessful.
After a brief hiatus from the show, Cassandra James took to social media to announce her return to filming, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to step back onto set.
