It was a night to remember at the 2024 Academy Awards, as Ryan Gosling stole the show with his electrifying performance of his track from the film “I’m Just Ken”. The actor, decked out in a glittering pink suit and dark shades, took to the stage to sing his sentimental Barbie power ballad alongside his co-stars and backing dancers.
As Gosling belted out the emotional lyrics, he made sure to involve his fellow Barbie co-stars Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, Greta Gerwig, Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Scott Evans in the performance. The entire cast was on stage, dancing and singing along to the catchy tune.
During one particularly standout moment, Scott Evans, known for his role in “Grace and Frankie”, decided to take things up a notch. As all the Kens and backing performers danced in a line and Slash shredded a guitar solo, Evans spun forward and planted a kiss on Gosling’s cheek. The audience erupted in cheers and applause as the unexpected moment unfolded.
The chemistry between Evans and Gosling was palpable, and it was clear that the two actors shared a special bond. The kiss was a spontaneous and heartwarming gesture that left everyone in the audience smiling.
Despite the excitement of the performance, Gosling ultimately left the ceremony empty-handed, losing out on the Best Supporting Actor award to Robert Downey Jr. from “Oppenheimer”. Additionally, his song “I’m Just Ken” was beaten in the Best Original Song category by fellow Barbie song “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish.
Eilish made history by becoming the youngest musician to win two Best Original Song awards, adding to her already impressive list of accolades. The talented artist continues to make waves in the music industry with her unique sound and powerful lyrics.
While Gosling may have stolen the show with his performance at the Oscars, questions about his personal life have also been raised. Despite sharing a kiss with Scott Evans on stage, Gosling is not gay. The actor has been married to Eva Mendes for nearly 13 years and has two children with her. He has also dated his co-stars Rachel McAdams and Sandra Bullock in the past.
However, Gosling has made comments in the past about feeling a connection to his feminine side. He once described himself as “almost half woman”, praising women for being “better, stronger, and more evolved” than men. This unique perspective on gender roles has garnered attention and sparked discussions about masculinity and femininity in Hollywood.
Overall, Ryan Gosling’s performance at the Oscars was a highlight of the night, showcasing his talent and charisma on stage. The unexpected kiss from Scott Evans added an extra layer of excitement to the evening, leaving fans buzzing about the memorable moment for days to come.
