Netflix has recently released the highly anticipated trailer for season eight of the hit show Queer Eye, leaving fans excited for what’s to come. However, amidst all the anticipation and joy, fans are also coming to terms with the fact that this will be the last season featuring design expert Bobby Berk.
Berk, who has been an integral part of the Fab Five since the show’s reboot in 2018, announced in November that he would be leaving Queer Eye. In a heartfelt message to fans, Berk explained that his decision was necessary and came with a heavy heart.
Now that the trailer is out, fans are once again grappling with the reality that this will be their final opportunity to see Berk in action alongside Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, and Tan France. The Fab Five will be showcasing their expertise by giving makeovers to deserving individuals in New Orleans.
The heroes receiving the Queer Eye treatment this season include a former nun and Kiss superfan, a football coach at the Louisiana School for the Deaf who is at risk of losing his job, a Bayou-born outdoorsman looking to reignite his marriage, and a man who has neglected himself while caring for his brother.
While fans are excited about the upcoming season and the emotional moments it promises to deliver, their focus remains on bidding farewell to Bobby Berk. Social media has been flooded with comments expressing sadness over his departure. One fan tweeted, “This show will NOT be the same without Bobby. The guy is such a talent and seems like such a wholesome, lovely person. Nonetheless, this season looks amazing.”
Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying, “So sad Bobby gonna leave after this season, QE won’t be the same without him.” The outpouring of support for Berk is a testament to the impact he has had on viewers and his fellow castmates.
Despite the overwhelming response from fans, Berk has not explicitly stated the reason behind his departure. Speculation has been rife, with rumors suggesting that he was asked to leave due to a lack of compatibility with the rest of the cast. However, these rumors remain unconfirmed.
Adding fuel to the fire, fans noticed that Tan France unfollowed Berk on Instagram. Furthermore, in a recent post announcing the release date of season eight, Berk tagged all of his Queer Eye castmates except France. While Berk later tagged France’s @shaded Instagram account, which celebrates people of color and hasn’t been active since October 2020, the omission initially raised eyebrows.
Fans are eager to uncover the truth behind these behind-the-scenes dynamics but, for now, the Fab Five are keeping tight-lipped about the situation.
Queer Eye season eight is set to premiere on Netflix on January 24th. Although it marks the end of an era with Bobby Berk’s departure, fans can still look forward to an incredible season filled with heartwarming transformations and empowering stories.
