An investigative report by The Daily Truth has uncovered shocking allegations surrounding Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler and her husband, former Florida Republican leader Christian Ziegler. The couple has recently filed a lawsuit to prevent the release of incriminating text messages related to a threesome they were involved in with another woman.
The scandal first came to light last year when Bridget and Christian Ziegler admitted to engaging in a sexual encounter with a woman who later accused Christian of rape while his wife was absent. Despite the serious nature of the accusations, police ultimately cleared Ziegler of the rape charges in January of this year.
However, the controversy did not end there. The State Attorney’s Office recently announced that there was insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges against Christian Ziegler for allegedly filming a sexual encounter with the victim without her consent. This revelation further fueled public outrage and calls for accountability from the Zieglers.
The fallout from the scandal was swift and severe. Christian Ziegler was removed from his position as chairman of the Florida Republican party by an “almost unanimous” vote, and Bridget Ziegler faced intense pressure to resign from the Sarasota County School Board. Critics pointed to the Zieglers’ involvement in a sexual encounter despite their vocal anti-LGBTQ+ campaigning as evidence of hypocrisy.
In a bid to protect their privacy and reputation, the Zieglers have now taken legal action against the Sarasota Police Department and the State Attorney’s Office. In their lawsuit, the couple is demanding that private communications obtained during the investigations not be released to the public and be destroyed in their entirety.
The court filings reveal that the records in question include text messages between Bridget and Christian Ziegler, as well as a video allegedly showing Christian engaging in sexual intercourse with his accuser. The Zieglers argue that the release of this sensitive information would cause significant harm to their reputations and personal lives.
Christian Ziegler emphasized the importance of protecting his personal data, stating, “The cell phone and its contents are my personal property… The phone includes years of data, including communications with my wife and different attorneys I have retained over the years. The phone and its contents were not intended to be public.”
The Zieglers are concerned that other individuals and media outlets may seek access to the records now that the investigation has concluded. They are seeking to prevent any further dissemination of the materials before they are released as part of a public records request.
Despite being cleared of rape allegations, Christian Ziegler’s attorney, Derek Byrd, expressed his client’s relief and frustration with the damage caused by the scandal. Byrd emphasized that Ziegler had cooperated fully with the investigation and maintained his innocence throughout the process.
Meanwhile, Bridget Ziegler, whose organization Moms for Liberty has been labeled an LGBTQ+ hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, has faced intense scrutiny and criticism in the wake of the scandal. At a school board meeting, she was denounced as a hypocrite for her anti-LGBTQ+ stance while being involved in a sexual encounter with another woman.
The lawsuit filed by the Zieglers underscores the ongoing legal battle to protect their privacy and reputation amid a storm of controversy. As the case unfolds, questions remain about the implications of their actions and the potential consequences for their public personas. The Daily Truth will continue to investigate and report on this developing story.
