Welcome to the winter of Padam, Australia. The air was crisp, the sky was clear, and the anticipation for Splendour in the Grass 2024 was building. The festival had just announced its headliners, and the excitement was palpable. But one name in particular stood out among the rest – Kylie Minogue.
The queen of pop herself was set to headline at Splendour in the Grass, bringing her 45-year discography to the main stage on Friday 19 July. Fans were overjoyed at the news, eagerly counting down the days until they could see Kylie perform live in Ngarindjin, North Byron Parklands.
Kylie herself took to Instagram on 12 March to share the news with her loyal followers. “AUSTRALIA …. I’m coming home! I can’t wait to join this amazing lineup in North Byron Park for Splendour In The Grass 2024!!!” she wrote, accompanied by a photo of herself beaming with excitement.
The announcement came on the heels of a monumental year for Kylie. She had just won her second-ever Grammy award and had recently performed with Madonna during her Celebration Tour. The long-awaited duet between the two icons finally happened on 7 March, much to the delight of fans.
The pair belted out an acapella version of Kylie’s hit song, ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’, as well as a cover of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’. The performance was a true celebration of LGBTQ+ music and performance, setting the stage for an unforgettable weekend at Splendour in the Grass.
Joining Kylie on the lineup were other queer artists like Girl in Red and non-binary musician G-Flip. The festival promised to be a diverse and inclusive celebration of music and art, with rap icon FUTURE and indie rock band Arcade Fire also set to headline.
As the anticipation for Splendour in the Grass continued to grow, fans were eager to secure their tickets for the event. General sale was set to begin on 21 March at 9am AEDT via MOSHTIX, but there were several pre-sales available for those looking to snag their tickets early.
Locals living in specific postcodes were given the opportunity to purchase tickets at an exclusive price on 17 March. Previous year purchasers would have their chance on 18 March, while Optus customers could access a presale on 19 March. Additionally, a presale through TikTok was scheduled for 20 March.
With tickets set to go on sale soon, fans were gearing up for an unforgettable weekend at Splendour in the Grass. The festival was slated to take place on 19, 20, and 21 July 2024, promising a lineup that would make Australia’s winter truly magical.
