Jonathan Bailey, known for his role in the hit series Bridgerton, has shared the exciting details of how he landed a guest role in season three of the popular Netflix adaptation, Heartstopper. The British heartthrob will be portraying the character Jack Maddox, an Insta-famous classical academic and celebrity crush of Joe Locke’s Charlie Spring.
Bailey’s involvement in the upcoming season of Heartstopper was confirmed earlier this year after weeks of speculation. Alongside Bailey, the new cast members joining the series include Eddie Marsan and Hayley Atwell. Bailey, who showcased his style at the 2024 Met Gala, recently opened up about his experience working on the show.
In an interview with Variety, Bailey expressed his admiration for the series, stating, “Like so many people, I watched the first [season] and thought it was one of the biggest, most beautiful gifts to so many people, and I wish I had that growing up.” He also revealed that he had a mutual friend who knew executive producer Patrick Walters, which ultimately led to him landing the role in Heartstopper.
The Fellow Travellers star emphasized the impact that Heartstopper has had on viewers, stating that the show has changed the way people can grow and communicate about their identities. He highlighted that the series is not just for the LGBTQ+ community but for everyone who has a family member who identifies as LGBTQ+.
Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman expressed her excitement about welcoming Bailey and the other new cast members to the series. She shared that Hayley Atwell will be portraying Nick’s Aunt Diane, Eddie Marsan will play Geoff, Charlie’s therapist, and Bailey will make a cameo appearance as Jack Maddox.
In addition to his role in Heartstopper, Bailey has several other projects lined up for the coming months. He is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming Jurassic World 4 and will also be playing Fiyero in Wicked alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Fans can look forward to watching Bailey in Heartstopper season three when it premieres on Netflix in October 2024. With his talent and charm, Bailey is sure to captivate audiences once again in this highly anticipated season of the beloved series.
