Jonathan Bailey, known for his role in the hit series Bridgerton, has been confirmed for a role in the upcoming third season of Heartstopper. Fans of the popular Netflix show have been buzzing with excitement over the news, which was officially announced today.
The news of Bailey joining the cast of Heartstopper comes on the heels of the show’s second season, which left viewers eagerly anticipating what’s next for the beloved characters. The upcoming season will continue to follow Joe Locke and Kit Connor as schoolboys Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson as they navigate the ups and downs of young love.
Rumors of Bailey’s involvement in the third season started swirling last month, with fans speculating that he would be playing the role of Jack Maddox, an academic and Charlie’s celebrity crush. Today, those rumors were confirmed as Bailey, along with Hayley Atwell and Eddie Marsan, were announced as new additions to the Heartstopper cast.
Atwell will be playing Nick’s Aunt Diane, who takes Nick on a summer holiday to Menorca and offers him some tough love and advice. Marsan will be portraying Geoff, Charlie’s therapist, a beloved character from the graphic novels that the show is based on. Bailey, meanwhile, will be making a cameo appearance as Jack Maddox, adding a new dynamic to the storyline.
In a statement released by Alice Oseman, the author of the Heartstopper graphic novels, she expressed her excitement about welcoming the new cast members to the Heartstopper family. She praised Atwell, Marsan, and Bailey for their talent and teased that fans will be in for a treat when they see these new characters in action.
A sneak peek of Bailey in character as Jack Maddox was shared on Netflix’s social media channels, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the upcoming season. The clip shows Bailey at a press event for his book, hinting at the drama and romance that lies ahead for his character.
While fans eagerly await the release of Heartstopper season three in October 2024, there have been some changes to the cast lineup. Notably, Olivia Colman will not be returning as Nick’s mother due to scheduling conflicts. Despite this setback, the show is set to continue its heartwarming and emotional storytelling with a focus on the relationships and challenges faced by the main characters.
As filming for the new season gets underway, fans can expect more updates and teasers to be shared in the coming months. With Bailey’s addition to the cast, along with Atwell and Marsan, Heartstopper season three is shaping up to be an exciting and highly anticipated continuation of the beloved series.
