Bradley Riches, known for his role as James McEwan in the popular Netflix series “Heartstopper,” has reportedly signed up to be a housemate on the upcoming season of ITV’s “Celebrity Big Brother.” The news was first reported by The Sun, with Riches set to enter the Big Brother house when the show returns on March 4.
Riches gained recognition for his portrayal of James, a gay teen in the series based on Alice Oseman’s queer graphic novel. His character, James, appeared briefly in the first season of “Heartstopper” but became a recurring part of season two as a potential love interest for Charlie Spring’s friend Isaac. Despite James having a crush on Isaac, the latter, who later realized he was asexual, wasn’t interested.
According to The Sun, Riches is eager to participate in the rebooted reality show to enhance TV representation for queer and autistic individuals. A source mentioned that Riches wants to be an advocate for his community and show that being neurodiverse isn’t a hindrance but a superpower. Riches has been diagnosed with autism since he was nine and is passionate about representing his community on a mainstream platform like “Celebrity Big Brother.”
Not only is Riches an actor, but he is also an author. His children’s book titled “A Different Kind of Superpower,” which delves into what it’s like to be neurodivergent, was published at the end of last year. Additionally, Riches recently landed a role in the second season of the queer BBC comedy horror series “Wreck,” further solidifying his presence in the entertainment industry.
Fans of “Celebrity Big Brother” have pointed out that Riches has spent a significant amount of time with Jordan Sangha, the winner of the 2023 season of “Big Brother,” and his boyfriend Henry Southan. In a video shared on Riches’ Instagram, the couple known as “Jenry” appeared to be at the actor’s house, where he cooked them a roast.
The list of rumored stars set to enter the “Celebrity Big Brother” house has been growing, with more than 20 celebrities reportedly lined up for the show. Rumored housemates include Drag Race UK stars Bimini, Tayce, Baga Chipz, and Blu Hydrangea, as well as other notable personalities like Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, and Colson Smith from “Coronation Street.”
“PinkNews” has reached out to Bradley Riches’ representatives for comment on his participation in “Celebrity Big Brother.” The news of Riches joining the show has sparked excitement among fans and viewers eagerly awaiting the return of the reality series.
The upcoming season of “Celebrity Big Brother” promises to be filled with drama, entertainment, and diverse representation, with Bradley Riches adding to the anticipation as one of the rumored housemates.
