Recently in America no topic has caused up as much controversy and discussion as Gay rights. In this era of gay friendly pop culture and not so gay friendly politics people still cling to the idea that most LGBT people live in the Hollywood Hills. This is not the case at all. A recent study has discovered the top 5 gayest cities in America, and the results might surprise you.
5) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania –
This historic old city is not just the home of Andy Warhol, it is now a popular destination for many gay couples due to the all time lows in housing prices in this clean beautiful urban landscape. Pittsburgh features the Pittsburgh International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival over 10 days in October, and the Pittsburgh Pride festival in June which is now the fastest growing in the country. A flourishing arts community and a vibrant theater arts program help to secure Pittsburgh the number five-spot on the list.

Orlando’s progressive attitudes towards the community only add to the growing numbers of people flocking there. Recent votes to outlaw discrimination against LGBT citizens went unopposed by even a single politician or religious organization. The cities highlights feature the annual Theater Fringe Festival, often considered the “Gayest in the country.”
3) Las Vegas, Nevada –
With the dazzling lights and never-ending spectacle, the home of Siegfried and Roy is a shoo-in for the list. Las Vegas consistently rates as the top travel destination for Gay and Lesbians of all ages. Sin City featuresKrave, a 12,000 square foot venue that bills itself as the number one gay club in the world. The city also plays host to some of the biggest LGBT festivals and conventions, including the Same Love, Same Rights Festival and the annual LGBTwedding expo.
2) Santa Fé, New Mexico –

The LGBT retirement community in Santa Fé is the highest in the country. While boasting the largest amount of restaurants and art galleries per capita, Santa Fé is also the home of Rainbow Vision, a senior only drag show lounge.
1) Minneapolis, Minnesota –
Long considered the “Gayest city” in the Midwest for decades, Minneapolis is now the most LGBT friendly city in the country. The down to earth, no-nonsense people make this possible with their outstanding progressive views. The Evangelical Lutheran Church voted to allow the nations first openly gay pastor Reverend MayAlbing here.
