In an exclusive new clip from the lesbian road trip comedy “Drive-Away Dolls,” something fishy is afoot as Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan try to conceal the hidden contents of their bag. Written and directed by Ethan Coen, alongside his wife Tricia Cooke, the film follows “Poor Things” star Qualley and “Bad Education’s” Viswanathan as Jamie and Marian, two sapphics with very different ways of being in the world.
Jamie is portrayed as a relentlessly horny, wild spirit with a twangy Texan accent and a big sexual appetite, while Marian is depicted as a bookworm who lives by a strict moral code. After Jamie splits from her police officer girlfriend Sukie, she decides to join Marian on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, Florida. However, things take an unexpected turn when they are given a car that contains a mysterious briefcase in the boot.
Moments later, three inept criminals – The Chief, Arliss, and Flint – are on their trail, eager to get their hands on the mysterious briefcase. In a UK exclusive clip from the critically-acclaimed film, Jamie and Marian attempt to check into a “lesbian-friendly” hotel with their unexpected cargo. Jamie questions the receptionist about accepting the rainbow card, while Marian anxiously asks about a super-reinforced safe for sensitive materials.
“Drive-Away Dolls” also features Pedro Pascal, Bill Camp, Matt Damon, and an uncredited guest appearance by Miley Cyrus. The film was released in the US last month to positive reviews from critics who praised it as a “hell of a lesbian” road trip comedy that is an absolute delight to watch.
Critics have described the film as hella lesbian, with Empire critic John Nugent praising its sapphic representation. “Drive-Away Dolls” is set to hit UK and Irish cinemas on 15 March.
In conclusion, “Drive-Away Dolls” promises to be a quirky and entertaining journey filled with humor, suspense, and sapphic representation. With a talented cast and positive reviews from critics, this lesbian road trip comedy is sure to captivate audiences with its unique storyline and engaging characters.
