Investigative Report: Donald Trump Labelled Worst President in US History by Esteemed Historians
In a recent survey conducted by the Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey, Donald Trump has been ranked as the worst president in US history. The survey collected insights from 154 historians, scholars, and presidential experts who ranked each commander-in-chief on a scale of zero to 100. Trump received a dismal score of 10.9 out of 100, landing him in last place.
This ranking contradicts the claims made by many of Trump’s supporters who often tout him as the best US president to date. Despite their assertions, esteemed historians and scholars have deemed Trump as the least effective president in American history. This assessment is further reinforced by the fact that even among self-identified Republicans and conservatives, Trump only managed to secure the 41st spot out of 45, barely beating out James Buchanan.
Justin Vaughn, an associate professor of political science at Coastal Carolina University, and Brandon Rottinghaus, a professor of political science at the University of Houston, conducted the survey. In an opinion piece for the Los Angeles Times, the professors noted that Trump’s low ranking was due to his “radical departure from political, institutional, and legal norms.”
One of the key factors contributing to Trump’s poor ranking is his controversial actions during his time in office. Trump made history as the first current or former president to face criminal charges. Despite these legal battles, he remains a front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
During his presidency, Trump was a constant source of fear for LGBTQ+ individuals and other marginalized groups in the US. He implemented policies that discriminated against transgender individuals, opposed life-saving legislation like the Affordable Care Act, and banned rainbow flags from being flown at US embassies. Even after leaving office, Trump has continued to attack trans rights and has made derogatory remarks about the LGBTQ+ community.
Despite the charges and scandals surrounding Trump, he has maintained a strong following among his supporters. Some have expressed dismay at the survey results, which placed Abraham Lincoln at the top of the list with an overall ranking of 93.87. Other notable presidents like George Washington and both Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt also scored highly in the survey.
In conclusion, the survey conducted by the Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey has shed light on the true legacy of Donald Trump’s presidency. While his supporters may continue to praise him, esteemed historians and scholars have deemed him as the worst president in US history based on his actions and departure from established norms.
