Prominent right-wing broadcaster Jason Whitlock has recently come under fire for his praise and promotion of E. Michael Jones, an author known for his antisemitic views. In a recent interview on the right-wing outlet Blaze Media, Jones made a series of inflammatory statements about Jews, claiming they “took over the Blacks early on” and are “undermining the moral fabric of the American people.” These comments echo long-standing antisemitic conspiracy theories that accuse Jews of using people of color and LGBTQ+-inclusive values to wage a culture war against Christian and Western society.
During the interview, Whitlock not only failed to challenge Jones’s antisemitic rhetoric but also expressed agreement with his views. He later praised Jones for his “fearless” opinions and even posted an image on social media declaring that Jones had dropped a “TRUTH BOMB” on listeners. Whitlock’s support of Jones drew widespread criticism, with many commenters expressing their disappointment in his promotion of an antisemite.
Following the backlash, Whitlock removed the interview and related posts from his YouTube channel. However, he acknowledged that the interview is still accessible through other platforms such as Blaze Media, Rumble, Apple, and Spotify. In a subsequent broadcast, Whitlock admitted that he should have been better prepared for the interview, claiming that he had not been fully aware of Jones’s controversial background. Nevertheless, his failure to adequately research his guest and challenge his harmful views raises questions about Whitlock’s journalistic integrity.
This is not the first time Whitlock has defended or promoted individuals with problematic views. In late 2022, he came to the defense of rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West) when he made antisemitic comments, suggesting that Jewish power brokers in Hollywood were suppressing opposition to their agenda. Whitlock also has a history of airing anti-LGBTQ+ views, such as promoting the anti-trans film “What is a Woman?” and entertaining conspiracy theories about Michelle Obama being a transgender woman and Nancy Pelosi’s husband engaging in a gay relationship.
The fact that Whitlock, a long-time journalist, was not better prepared for the interview with Jones raises concerns about his professionalism and commitment to responsible reporting. At the beginning of the interview, he even praised Jones for being “under attack by the Anti-Defamation League” (ADL), an organization dedicated to combating antisemitism. The ADL has criticized Jones for perpetuating attacks on the Catholic Church and promoting harmful ideologies that undermine social stability and political order.
It is essential to hold journalists accountable for the guests they choose to platform and promote. By giving a platform to individuals like E. Michael Jones, who espouse antisemitic views, Whitlock contributes to the spread of hate speech and harmful conspiracy theories. As a prominent figure in right-wing media, his actions have a significant impact on public discourse and can perpetuate harmful stereotypes and prejudices.
Inclusive and responsible journalism should prioritize accuracy, fairness, and respect for all individuals, regardless of their race, religion, or sexual orientation. It is imperative for media outlets and journalists like Whitlock to exercise caution when selecting guests and ensure that they do not provide a platform for hate speech or bigotry. Only through responsible reporting can we foster a society that values inclusivity and promotes understanding among different communities.
