RuPaul’s Drag Race’s reigning queen Sasha Colby made a grand entrance with her new boyfriend, Ben Koenigsberg, at Elton John’s annual AIDS Foundation Academy Award Viewing Party. The 39-year-old trans icon officially introduced her partner to the world, marking a significant milestone in their relationship.
In an interview with The Advocate, Colby shared that she met Koenigsberg during a trip to Hawaii for Pride a few months ago. Koenigsberg, who hails from Seattle, was visiting Hawaii at the time, and the two hit it off right away. When asked how he won Colby over, Koenigsberg playfully replied, “I think you won over me,” to which Colby jokingly responded, “The prize package was amazing.” The couple has been together for four to five months and are enjoying their time together.
Currently, Colby is on tour across North America until the end of April, and Koenigsberg is supporting her every step of the way. Reflecting on dating the drag legend, Koenigsberg expressed his nerves and pride in Colby’s accomplishments. He described her show as amazing and expressed excitement for what she has in store for the future.
Sasha Colby rose to fame after winning Drag Race season 15 in January 2023. With four challenge wins under her belt, she emerged victorious in the final against tough competition. Since her win, Colby has achieved remarkable milestones, including being recognized by the US House of Representatives and working alongside Vice President Kamala Harris.
Aside from introducing her boyfriend to fans, Colby shared her thoughts on season 16 of Drag Race. She expressed admiration for queens like Sapphira, Nymphia, and Q, praising their talents and design aesthetics. Jokingly, she mentioned being glad not to be a contestant this time around due to the fierce competition among the queens.
