Qantas to Honour Flight Attendant Luke Davies at Sydney Mardi Gras Following Tragic Death
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Qantas is planning to honour the life of flight attendant Luke Davies at the upcoming Sydney Mardi Gras parade. This decision comes after the tragic deaths of Davies and his partner, Jesse Baird, whose bodies were found in rural New South Wales.
The news of their deaths sent shockwaves through the community, with family and friends of the couple writing heartfelt tributes in their memory. The couple was last seen alive on 19 February, and their remains were discovered inside two “surf bags” at a rural property in Bungonia on 27 February.
The investigation into their deaths led to the arrest of Police officer Beaumont Lamarre-Condon, who has been charged with their murders. The circumstances surrounding their deaths have left many in disbelief and mourning the loss of two vibrant individuals.
Davies, a 29-year-old flight attendant, had only recently joined Qantas in September 2022 in Brisbane before moving to Sydney to work across the company’s international network. Colleagues and friends have described him as a compassionate and dedicated individual who went above and beyond for others.
One such act of kindness was recounted by a colleague, Brooke Walters, who shared how Davies spent over eight hours caring for a passenger with dementia on a flight from Sydney to Singapore. The passenger’s wife was deeply moved by Davies’ compassion and dedication to ensuring her husband’s comfort during what could have been their final trip together.
In a statement, Qantas executive manager cabin crew Leeanne Langridge expressed the deep sadness felt by the entire Qantas community at the loss of Davies. She described him as a much-loved member of the cabin crew who had a passion for travel, life, and serving customers with care and dedication.
As a tribute to Davies, Qantas will be placing his name on the front of its float at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade on 2 March. The parade, set to take place across various streets in Sydney, will be a poignant moment to honour Davies’ memory and celebrate his life.
The entire Qantas team is standing in solidarity with the loved ones of Luke Davies and Jesse Baird during this difficult time. Their tragic deaths have left a void in the hearts of those who knew them, and their memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with them.
As the community comes together to mourn the loss of these two individuals, the spirit of unity and remembrance will be at the forefront of the Sydney Mardi Gras parade. Davies’ legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In honouring Luke Davies at the Mardi Gras parade, Qantas is not only paying tribute to a beloved member of their team but also celebrating the life of a remarkable individual whose light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him.
